I have played the 5-string banjo off and on for approximately 40 years. Some was semi-pro during the 70's. My type of playing is traditional bluegrass and a small amount of progressive bluegrass.

A long time friend, Jim Irwin, who played bluegrass music (Dobro) with me in college years, got me back to playing again. So it is his fault that as of 2002 I am beginning to play more with Jam sessions with the Southwest Pickers. A group of dedicated acoustic instrument players of all ages, from beginning to advanced, from all types of backgrounds. Playing Bluegrass, Folk and Celtic styles.

I have also been able to play with various players from different Bluegrass and Celtic bands. So even in my elder years the fun and excitement is still there.
